Philosophy of the Work

They Buried the Man is not about death. It is about what remains after violence has finished speaking.

The nail was made to pierce. Rust became its memory. Yet the butterfly lands without fear, as if nature refuses to recognize the purpose for which the object was created.

For a brief moment, even the nail forgets its history.

The work asks whether objects — like people — are forever defined by what they were made to do, or whether they can become something else. A weapon can become a witness. A scar can become a memory. A memory can become compassion.

Dedicated to Charles Bukowski, this piece reflects the fragile moments of grace that sometimes appear in the harshest places, reminding us that even what was created for wounds may one day be touched by beauty.
