A single object can become a different symbol for every person who encounters it.
For one, a nail is the first nail driven into the walls of a home where a family begins a long and happy life. For another, it is an inseparable part of the Cross.
The object remains the same; only its meaning changes.
Stories of love, hope, loss, faith, fear, courage, regret, longing, and redemption are often anchored to something tangible. Sometimes an ordinary object grows beyond its practical purpose and becomes a symbol. Sometimes it becomes an archetype.
My work is not about objects. It is about that transformation—the quiet moment when a thing stops belonging to the world of function and begins to belong to the world of symbols, memory, and archetypes.
