Love speaks in promises.
I will always love you.
I will never leave you.
I will always be there for you.
I will never hurt you.
We will always be together.
Nothing will ever separate us.
Perhaps no other human feeling has created so many promises built around the word forever.
We make them sincerely. We believe them when we hear them. And yet sincerity at the moment of a promise does not guarantee its survival.
People change. Feelings change. Lives move in different directions. What once seemed impossible to lose becomes something remembered.
The work does not question whether love is real. It questions our desire to make something temporary speak the language of eternity.
The promises remain recognizable even when the people who made them are gone. Words survive relationships. Memories survive feelings. Sometimes only the outline remains — the shape of something that once seemed permanent.
Perhaps the emptiness is not in love itself, but in our certainty that we can promise it forever.
